Benefits of Working with Me

  1. I’ve been there: I’ve suffered from depression for the majority of my life, so I understand what you’re going through. In seeking treatment for myself, I found that many of the people who treated me had never experienced depression. I often felt they did not understand me, and gave me advice that didn’t address what I knew were the underlying issues. I’ve had so many professionals advise me to eat more vegetables and exercise more. What they didn’t understand is that I could barely get out of bed, let alone go for a walk! Through extensive research, I was able to identify the root causes of my depression and address them. In my particular case, I was dealing with several different biological factors: high copper, several genetic mutations, an extra need for B12 and folic acid. I have tried just about every alternative to medication available, and can assist you in finding the underlying causes of your imbalances.
  2. Experience/certification: I am certified as a Holistic Health Practitioner through Holistic Arts Institute. I am currently in the process of obtaining my NHC (Natural Health Consultant). I have an undergraduate degree in writing/literature from UCSD. For 15 years, I worked in the medical publishing industry and was able to see “behind the curtain” of the medical and pharmaceutical fields. I have read extensively about holistic health and am aware of the latest research on holistic mental health including epigenetics and orthomolecular medicine. I am also a certified Reiki practitioner.
  3. Spirituality: In the early phase of my journey, I trained for three years with a Tibetan Buddhist monk. I learned several techniques to help me assist others with their healing. Some of these include distance healing, and tapping into my spiritual energy to intuit what someone needs in order to heal. I feel confident in my spiritual connection and have come to realize that this work is what I am truly called to do. I believe I’ve struggled with depression so that I could help people avoid the same type of suffering. I have taken the Bodhisattva vows, which means that my intention is to attain enlightenment for the sake of all sentient beings.
  4. Individualized Attention: I only accept a limited amount of clients so that I can offer unique, individualized attention to each person. I do extensive research for each clients, and allow myself time each day to further my knowledge in the areas of natural therapies for depression. Each person is important to me, and because there is no cookie-cutter approach to depression, I leave extra time to attend to each person’s individual needs. If you are my client, your health and well-being are of primary importance to me.
  5. Everyone Needs A Cheerleader: This is especially true when someone has depression. I remember how difficult it was just to get out of bed, let alone try to read more about solutions or do research. I know that if I had someone in my corner who was encouraging me and giving me specific things to try, it would have made a huge difference. Because of the shame and misunderstanding that often accompanies depression, family members who don’t understand can make things worse. I am living proof that you can heal and that there is hope. I am here to help and encourage you.
  6. No Conflict of Interest: I do not sell vitamins, tapes, books, tests, or supplements. I visited several naturopathic doctors who also sold supplements, and I often felt they were recommending products to increase their profits. You can rest assured that any recommendations I make are solely made in your best interest.
  7. A Balanced Approach: Because everyone is different, no two people will have exactly the same needs. You may be interested in chakra work, energy healing, or spiritual guidance, while another person wants to focus on nutritional balancing and dietary changes. I am well-versed in many methods that may suit your needs. If one doesn’t work, we can try others. It is important to me that we find what works best for you.
  8. Practical Suggestions: I have found that by giving practical suggestions for small steps you can take, people begin to feel empowered. I provide lots of action steps and suggestions that you can experiment with to see how they make you feel. If something isn’t a good fit, then we try something else. The important part is to keep trying until we find solutions that work for you and get you back to health.
